Valentines and Presidents

Last week was all about Valentines and presidents.  The students were very excited to decorate (and eat!) some Valentine cupcakes.  We read about Valentine's Day and worked on rhyming words by reading Valentine's Day poems and predicting the rhyming words at the end of each verse.

We also read about Presidents Abraham Lincoln and George Washington.  Shauna and Danyiel enjoyed the President's Day program directed by our music teacher, Mr. Heady.  All the children enjoyed singing along to songs we'd sung in music class.

Several people from Fort Stewart's DENTAC visited to give us tips about how to have a bright, shiny smile.  Ms. Becky's class and Miss Campbell's class would like to thank Ashley Pinson, SPC Velasquez, SPC Galarza, SPC Kemp, and SPC Chase for teaching us about dental hygiene.  We hope to have pictures to share with you soon.

This week, we've been working on patterns.  We've been counting to 100 and practicing combinations of actions in an AB pattern.  Sometimes we clap and snap,sometimes we tap and snap, and sometimes we tap and clap.  We've also been coloring worksheets in alternating colors to display AB patterns.

Next week, we'll begin talking about St. Patrick's Day.
